Snickerdoodle Bars

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I was making these snickerdoodle bars for a Christmas party and had to share the recipe with you.  I love dessert bars because they’re so easy! I came across this recipe over the summer and have made it several times. Although, I almost choked reading the ingredient list and reading how much butter and sugar went into these, I can tell you that it is so worth it! They are delicious!

DSC_0203What you’ll need:

2 2/3 cup flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

3 tsp. cinnamon, divided

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature or softened slightly

1 tbsp. vanilla

2 tbsp. sugar

What you’ll do:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lightly grease 9×13″baking pan and set aside.

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

Beat butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy. 3-5 minutes.

Add eggs one at time, then add vanilla.

On low speed, add flour mixture a little at a time until just combined.

Spread batter evenly into baking dish. The batter will be a little thick so spread carefully.  🙂

In small bowl, mix 2 tsp. cinnamon and sugar until combined and sprinkle over batter.

Bake for 25-30 minutes (until a toothpick in the center comes out clean).

Cool completely.
